Just prior to his entry into Jerusalem, Jesus raises Lazarus to life. To the consternation of the Pharisees, the people see the miracle and put their hope in Jesus.
Sight for the Blind
Jesus reveals his grace and glory as he heals a man who was born blind. As he does so, he corrects his disciples, who thought some great sin caused the man’s physical impairment.
Water for the Thirsty
Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well near Sychar. He reveals himself to her as the promised Messiah.
A Gift for the World
As the history of Abraham shows, a man is justified by faith, not by works. For the Scriptures record that “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Abraham’s faith charts the way for believers; indeed, by faith, we become his children and heirs to the wonderful promise God made to Abraham and fulfilled in his Son.
A Champion for the Defeated
As we are reminded of humanity’s primal history at the outset of Lent, we grieve over our loss but rejoice in the sending of the promises Savior.
